Snapchat Is This You Scam: Is It a Scam?

Yes, this is a scam. Do not click any links or provide personal information.

A friend's compromised Snapchat account sends you a message saying 'Is this you?' or 'OMG look at this' with a link. Clicking the link steals your Snapchat credentials, and the scam spreads to your friends list.

How This Scam Works

You receive a Snap or chat from a friend with a message like 'Is this you in this video?' along with a link. Because it comes from someone you trust, you click it. The link opens a fake Snapchat login page. When you enter your username and password, the scammer captures your credentials and takes over your account. Your account then automatically sends the same scam message to all of your friends, creating a viral chain. The stolen accounts are sold or used for further phishing and impersonation.
